Supplements for mares – support for feeding at different stages

Preparations intended for mares help supplement the daily diet with nutrients that may vary depending on age, condition, level of activity and stage of reproduction. Properly selected supplementation can support proper functioning of the body, condition, immunity and maintenance of good form.

Special attention may need to be given to feeding mothers - foals and feeders, as energy, protein, vitamins, minerals and micronutrients increase in these periods. The products concerned should be adjusted to the entire food dose and should be supplemented rather than replaced by a properly balanced diet.

Supplementation of foal mares

During pregnancy, the mare's body gradually increases the need for nutrients needed to maintain its condition and proper development of the fetus. Supplements for foal mares can support dietary supplement in vitamins, minerals and micronutrients, which are relevant for proper pregnancy and general functioning of the body.

It is particularly important to maintain the appropriate proportion of minerals and to take into account the quality of basic feed, as both deficiencies and excessive supplementation may impair the proper functioning of the body of the future mother.

Supplements for lactating mares

Lactation is a period of heavy burden on the body. The mother needs a sufficient amount of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals not only to maintain her own condition, but also to produce milk.

Supplements for lactating mares may support the addition of increased nutritional demand during this period and help maintain the proper condition of the body. Their selection should take into account the quality of the volumetric feed, the volumetric feed dose and the individual needs of the horse.

How to choose a supplement for a mare?

The choice of the appropriate preparation should depend primarily on the diet, age, condition and current stage of life. Other ingredients may need foal mare, other feeding mare, and yet other breeding mare outside of pregnancy and lactation.

Before the product is introduced, it is worth examining the entire food dose and checking what ingredients are already supplied with feed. This reduces the risk of unnecessary duplication of vitamins and minerals and better match supplementation to the actual needs of the horse.
