Supplements for foals – support for proper growth and development

Vitamins and minerals support the proper development of the young organism. Appropriately selected supplementation can supplement the daily diet of foals into the necessary nutrients needed to develop bones, joints, muscles and proper functioning of the entire body.

What is the significance of the supplementation of young horses?

In the first months and years of life, the demand of a young horse for nutrients changes rapidly. Supplements for young horses can be helpful especially if the basic nutritional dose does not fully cover the needs of the growing organism.

It is important to maintain the appropriate proportions of minerals, including calcium and phosphorus, as well as the appropriate levels of micronutrients involved in bone and tissue development.

Support for bones, joints and muscles in foals

Well-chosen preparations can support the development of the bone, joints and muscles, which are particularly heavily burdened during growth. The proper feeding of a young horse is important for its further development, condition and preparation for future use.

Resistance and proper functioning of the body

Supplementation can also support the construction and maintenance of a good body condition and proper functioning of the digestive system. The selection of the preparation should take into account the age, weight, diet, growth rate and individual needs of the young horse.

How to choose a supplement for a foal?

Another support may need a foal at the mare, another immediately after the weaning, and another young horse in subsequent stages of development. Therefore, when choosing the preparation, it is worth paying attention not only to the composition of the preparation itself, but also to the entire nutritional dose.

Excess of some vitamins and minerals may be as unfavourable as their deficiency, therefore supplements should be a thoughtful supplement to nutrition, not a substitute for well balanced feed and good quality volumetric feed.
