Supplements to the bone system of the horse

The properly developed and strong bone system is crucial for the efficiency, stability and proper functioning of the whole horse's movement apparatus. Bone-supporting supplements can be a valuable complement to daily feeding, especially in young horses during the period of growth, sports and animals with increased mineral demand.

Appropriately selected preparations may provide nutrients essential for proper mineralisation of bones and maintain their good condition. Appropriate proportions of calcium and phosphorus, as well as the presence of selected vitamins and micronutrients involved in bone tissue, are of particular importance in bone supplementation.

Bone support in young horses

The period of growth is the time of intensive development of the skeleton, so feeding the ever-growing animal should be particularly well balanced. The deficiency or excess of certain ingredients may impair the normal development of the bone, so supplementation should be adjusted to the entire food dose.

Preparations supporting the bone system of young horses can help supplement nutrition in minerals and vitamins needed during periods of intense growth and development of the movement apparatus.

Minerals and vitamins for strong bones

Proper bone construction depends on adequate supply of many nutrients. Calcium and phosphorus are among the most important minerals building the skeleton, but their proper proportions and the presence of vitamins and micronutrients affecting their use by the body are also important.

When choosing a bone supplement for a horse, it is worth paying attention to the composition of the preparation and taking into account minerals already present in basic feed and other nutritional additives.

Bone layout in sports and older horses

The bones of horses regularly working are subjected to continuous loads related to movement and training. Proper nutrition and properly selected supplementation can support the maintenance of good condition of the skeleton and the entire movement apparatus.

In older horses, too, it is worth paying attention to the supply of minerals and the overall quality of nutrition. With age, the needs of the body may change, therefore the supplement should be selected individually for the condition, activity and way of feeding the horse.

How to choose a supplement for horse bones?

The choice should take into account age, growth rate, level of activity and composition of the entire nutritional dose. Other needs may have a young horse during development, other sports horse in regular training, and still other senior

Supplementation of the bone system should be part of a well balanced diet. Before introducing the preparation, it is worth checking the amount of calcium, phosphorus and other minerals the animal is already receiving with feed.
