The famous coach, Mark Rashid, presents his revolutionary method of training horses. His approach to these animals is based on an attempt to find balance in their training. I have always felt that working with horses is - or at least should be - about finding the gold middle when it comes to how much or how little guidance you should give to the horse, so that he can understand what we're trying to teach him. If the guidelines are too few or too weak, our efforts may be ineffective. If they are too many or too strong, they can cause resistance and resentment of the horse to man. Rashid's sensitive and thoughtful approach - often called a true horse whisperer - makes the conventional leadership concept of being an alpha individual question. The author convinces readers to become “passive leaders”, the human equivalent of a horse, with which the rest of the individuals in the flock want to stay and follow. The application of Rashid's rules and techniques makes his horses trained by his methods eager to work and trustworthy, no matter who rides them.
Mark Rashid is a true horseman, of flesh and blood. They're said to have been born in a stable under a manger. He is a horse lover and expert and an excellent trainer. He is a man of extraordinary personality, and his extensive knowledge of horses allows him to create such relationships with these wonderful animals as others often only dream of. He is also an excellent storyteller, which makes each of his dozen books read with one breath. Mark Rashid is one of the advocates of passive leadership, that is, the leadership relationship that is created by mutual understanding and ensuring the animal's safety. He is opposed to forcing obedience on horses using methods using force. He believes - and his experience this confirms - that forceful methods often lead to the enslavement of an animal mistakenly interpreted as showing respect for a man, who is actually taught helplessness. It proves that even in cases of “wreckless”, you can find a common language with a horse by giving up on commonly accepted methods.

Mark Rashid, as an exceptionally insightful coach, knows that considering the horse's point of view leads to amazing, positive changes both in the horse's subjects themselves and in the people who love them. He is also a great storyteller, who seamlessly intertwins the principles of handling horses in engaging anecdotes from his own life, especially from the time when he was a young boy who was taken care of by an older horseman.
