OilMega is a high quality horse oil that provides valuable omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 and omega-9 and vitamin E. The product supports the condition of skin and hair, proper functioning of the digestive tract and natural defence mechanisms of the body. Thanks to its high fat content, it can also be a valuable source of additional energy for sports horses and intensively working, without excessive stimulation typical of parts of high-energy cereal feed.
The Cavalor OilMega formula contains a balanced combination of fatty acids and medium chain fatty acids C6–C12 derived from tropical plants. The manufacturer indicates that these ingredients promote the maintenance of healthy intestinal microflora and normal gastrointestinal condition. The appropriate ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 acids is also important for the condition of the skin, immunity and general well-being of the horse. The addition of vitamin E helps protect fatty acids from oxidation.
OilMega will work as oil for horses in need of extra energy, support the condition of hair and skin and supplement the diet with essential fatty acids. It is especially useful in winter when access to fresh grass is restricted and the diet may contain less natural omega-3 sources. The manufacturer shall also recommend it to horses performing endurance work and to more reactive animals in which the energy derived from fat can be a useful alternative to increasing the proportion of cereals per dose.
Oil should be introduced gradually to the diet: the first day of 20 ml, the second day of 40 ml, the third day of 60 ml, the fourth day of 80 ml, and the fifth day of 100 ml. The recommended serving after a period of habit is 100 ml per day, while the maximum amount is 500 ml per horse per day.
