The Mebio brand has created a specialized probiotic for older horses, designed to support intestinal microflora, digestion and better use of nutrients from feed. The preparation will work particularly well in animals that have difficulty maintaining weight, less digestible feed, are prone to diarrhea, constipation or colic, as well as have weaker hooves and matt hair.
The formula combines selected strains of probiotic bacteria of Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and Enterococcus with yeasts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, inulin with prebiotic action and bacterial fermentation products. This combination promotes the balance of intestinal microbiote, normal fermentation and better digestion and absorption of nutrients. The addition of linseed and kaolin helps protect the gastrointestinal mucosa.
It also contains grape seed extract and fiber, quercetine and ginseng. These ingredients provide natural antioxidants, help protect cells from oxidative stress and help maintain the good condition of an older horse. The manufacturer also points to their beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system and metabolic balance of the body. It can be a valuable supplement to the diet of seniors requiring additional care for the digestive tract and the use of nutrients. It is recommended to 72-hour penalty before taking off in the competition.
The probiotic MEBIO Biocell Senior 1kg can be used long-term in older horses, but also in younger animals with digestive problems or reduced condition. The recommended daily serving is 5 g for each 100 kg horse's body weight, i.e. 25 g for a horse weighing 500 kg. One scoop contains 10 g product. The preparation should be administered together with the feed. In justified cases, the dose may be increased after consulting a nutritionist or a veterinarian.
