Glucogard is a concentrated supplement for horses with insulin resistance, EMS metabolic syndrome, overweight and a tendency to overwhelm. Fine granules facilitate daily administration, and the formula supports fat metabolism, helps increase insulin sensitivity, and supplements the low-sugar and low-starch diet to important nutrients. This is a suitable choice for owners looking for a supplement for the horse with EMS, a preparation for an obese horse or nutritional support at risk of ochwatt.
Glucogard may be used in pre-ovulatory, pre-ovulatory horses and in animals mainly fed by volumetric feedingstuffs, which require a carefully balanced vitamin-mineral supplement. The ingredients contained in the preparation support proper sugar management, protection of the hooves and maintaining proper condition during weight reduction.
The recipe contains 38% beer yeast and 25% herbal mixture with medical ruttiva, blueberry leaves, beam, oyster, fenugreek, anise and Italian fenugreek. The formula is supplemented by linseed and sunflower oils pressed cold, magnesium, ginger, cinnamon, garlic, artichokes, turmeric, lime from sea algae and L-carnitine. The addition of zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, biotin and vitamins A, D3, E and B helps to compensate for deficiencies arising from a restrictive diet of the horse with metabolic problems.
What horse is Glucogard meant for? The product will be particularly suitable for horses that are easy to weight, with insulin resistance, EMS, chitchat lesions and require a low starch and sugar intake. The supplement should be part of a wider procedure involving a well-chosen diet, weight control and movement adapted to the animal’s health.
The recommended dose is 50 g on 100 kg on a daily basis. At the risk of being upset, the manufacturer initially recommends 30 g on 100 kg with body weight, followed by about 20 g on 100 kg with body weight. During the pasture season, the preparation can be administered at a dose of approximately 20 g on 100 kg body weight through 2–8 weeks. The exact dosage should be determined with the veterinarian or nutritionist for horse nutrition.
