There are magic things on the back of a horse. Nie is like this every time, but it can happen when a horse and rider become one. Their spines meet in perfect balance, their minds reach perfect understanding, and both move in wonderful harmony. Magic can take place when the horse is trained (both physically and mentally) taking into account its nature – the rider helps him to use his body in a natural way, the horse works freely and willingly for the rider, who perfectly controls his balance. This is what I call the "fitness dynamics", and when it works, the muscles of the horse are used in a way that improves its elasticity and strengthening, and also provides it with a longer life in health. Mentally, the horse feels free and unrestricted. This refers to any breed of horses, trained in any possible equestrian discipline.
ed Introduction
I read it from cover to cover, and I'm delighted. I find myself quoting this book often, teaching courses and symposia.
~Carl Hester, multiple Olympic medalist in dressage
A balanced and supportive horse riding is the basis of a successful partnership between the horse and the rider. Beth Baumert tackles this rather complex subject, explaining the dynamics of the rider's maintaining balance and the application of positive tension in the creation of the "power line". In the second part, he discusses the same subject from the perspective of the horse's construction and behavior, again giving many examples and suggesting exercises. He then masterfully combines the previous themes into one and demonstrates the magic of the two spines stacking together in one line for the common good of the horse and rider.
I humbly admit that even for me, some things have become clearer, although I have spent my entire life riding. The Beth book is the equivalent of countless courses conducted by the world's best coaches.
~from Preface: Axel Steiner, FEI dress judge 5*, current USEF dress referee, member of the L-grade programme committee USDF
Nature did not predict that a horse would carry a man on its back. The horse's spine specialized through evolution not in carrying weight, but in enabling the horse to run as fast as possible. Fortunately, a conscious rider, using the natural characteristics of the horse's spine, can make it fully functional despite the additional weight.
The book will better understand the role of the seat (a seat – “a place where the two spines meet”) and dispel doubts, which in practice means often used term “riding a horse from a seat”. The human being – perfecting in equestrian skills and using all knowledge about the structure and behaviour of horses – is able to cause two spines (horse and human) to interact while driving and achieve harmony.

Whatever riding discipline you do, whether it's a western, jumping or riding a pony – I encourage you to deepen your knowledge of the tracksuit and apply it during training, even to maintain its logic. I'm lucky I've never taken a jump training without a quadrilateral job during my entire riding and coaching career. Ale was like this in my own little world. Today's riders are far too much for appearance and competition. Even the leading players somehow lost what the great champions knew centuries ago! Every rider needs to know the basic rules of riding.
~George Morris, Former head of U.S. team in jumps through obstacles
Beth Baumert and I are all on the same page when it comes to horses and dress training. Now she has created the best guide I've ever seen, for those who want to understand the nuances of the tracksuit. With all that is happening today in our sport, I hope that riders – now and in the future – will be able to dress as Beth describes it.
~Henk van Bergen, former head of the Netherlands team in dressage and British team of young riders, member of the FEI Board of Supervisors
Mandatory reading for dress enthusiasts on each level; this exhaustive book is filled with valuable information that will expand the knowledge base of instructors, trainers, judges and riders. Beautiful pictures, illustrations and graphs add to the bright and concise text. I'll recommend it to all my students.
