Lucerne Chopped is a high-fibrous chaff with alfalfa for horses, which can be used as a supplement to hay, hayseed, pasture or bulk feed. Hot air-dried grass provides valuable protein, fibers and natural nutrients, so it will be useful in feeding sports, recreational, young, growing horses and requiring support of fitness and muscle.
Adding chaff to the solid feed helps prolong eating time, encourages the horse to chew more thoroughly and increases saliva secretion. This may support proper digestion and the functioning of the digestive tract. The high fibre content of 27% has a beneficial effect on intestinal work, especially the colon, and 12% raw protein helps supplement the diet of horses needing good quality protein to develop and regenerate muscles.
Chaff KRAFFT Lucerne Chopped 15kg contains a cut of alfalfa and beet molasses. Provides 7,6 MJ metabolic energy, 3% fat, 6 g lysine per kilogram and only 4% sugar. The naturally increased calcium content makes it a valuable addition to grain-based doses, but the whole diet should be tailored to the needs of the horse and properly balanced in terms of minerals.
The indicative daily dose is from 0,1 to 0,8 kg chaff for each 100 kg horse's weight. The amount should be adjusted according to age, condition, work intensity and other nutrients. The horse should receive at least 1,5 kg dry volumetric feed for each 100 kg body weight and have constant access to fresh water. When using chaff as the only volumetric feed, the diet should be supplemented with appropriately selected vitamins and minerals.
