Strucomix Senior is a high-quality musli for older horses, developed for the needs of animals, in which as the age decreases digestion efficiency, the muscle condition deteriorates or the maintenance of normal body weight becomes more difficult. Feed is rich in fiber, it does not contain oats and has low sugar levels, so it will work well in seniors requiring easy, well balanced feeding.
The formula contains long fibers from the stems of alfalfa, which prolong chewing time, increase saliva production and support intestinal motority. Addition of prebiotics and live yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae promotes the maintenance of a normal intestinal microflora, which is important for both digestion and natural immunity of the body. Cavalor Strucomix Senior can therefore be a valuable feed for an older horse with a sensitive digestive system or a tendency to decline condition.
The recipe uses flakes and blown and extruded cereals, which are easier to digest than their unprocessed counterparts. Heat treatment increases the availability of nutrients and facilitates the use of energy from feed. The increased protein content helps to maintain the normal muscle mass of older horses, which is particularly important with gradual loss of condition along with age.
The manufacturer recommends administering 450–750 g to 100 kg body weight per day. For a horse weighing 600 kg this means about 2,7–4,5 kg per day. Daily portions should be divided into several smaller meals, preferably administered after volumetric feed. The basis for feeding should remain good quality hay or other volumetric feed and constant access to fresh water.
